Today is the Octave Day or Eighth Day of Easter, better known as the Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday. God is merciful, all the time.
Once again, I especially want to congratulate Joshua Price on his Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion as well as our other children who made their First Holy Communion on Easter Sunday: Flannery Joyce Coman, Eowyn Lorraine Coman, Nayomi Randall, Eugene Gbologan, Madison Parker, Stephanie Isler and Madison Isler. May God bless you all!
Please note the blurb about Faith in Indiana above. This can be a very good and very helpful organization for families in Indiana. It is a non-partisan group that will examine basic questions about making life better for families here in Indiana.
Our Gospel today talks about Jesus showing himself to his disciples the night of his resurrection, two weeks in a row. The first time Thomas isn’t there. The second time he is. Thus we get his nickname of Doubting Thomas. Jesus appears to the disciples even though the door is locked. He does reprimand them for running away in his hour of need. Instead he says: “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” What a fantastic experience for them and ultimately for us. But poor Thomas was left out and he showed his anger at it, until Jesus came back again and asked him to believe. Then Thomas makes the great profession of faith when he says to Jesus: My Lord and my God.” Then Jesus speaks to them about us: “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” That’s us!
Our first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, tells us the early believers lived of one mind and heart and held everything in common and because of this there was no needy person among them. We, too, have to look out for our brothers and sisters.
Our second reading from St. John’s first letter tells us that Jesus died for us, “And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. Who indeed is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
Save this date: April 24, the Father Tolton Play will be at St. Joe High School at 7 PM. We now have tickets for the play. Please see a Tolton Society member to buy one. They are only $5.00.
Because the 25th of March was Palm Sunday, the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord has been put off until Monday. No, Christmas will not come later this year. It will still be December 25
We had all the carpet in the hall and church cleaned last week for $973.00. I hope you can see the difference. Please be careful with spills both in the church and the hall. If a stain is cleaned up right away it doesn’t leave as many marks on the floor. There are still a few Play Dough stains that just won’t come up. Please keep Play Dough off the carpet.
I went to insert a picture for Palm Sunday and found out my Office program no longer provides pictures. They gave a long explanation on how to go on line to find pictures to post, which I couldn’t figure out. If some one knows how to do this, I could use a little help with this process. I also registered a complaint with Office, asking them to bring back the feature.
Let us continue to pray for peace in the world. Let us also pray for vocations to the church. Let us pray for the sick of the parish. Let us pray that all will come to respect life. Let us pray for one another and for the canonization of Father Tolton.
