I am well and I hope y'all are, too. I spend most of my time at Fatima, but come to the church office to check the mail and the P.O. Box. The Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent de Paul are still running and helping the poor and hungry. Please keep these St. Augustine groups in your prayers.
This has been quite a Lent and Holy Week will be very different as well. Gone are the days, for this year, of great ceremonies on Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem to cheers and we walked around the block with palms proclaiming that good news; Holy Thursday, when Jesus gave us the Eucharist at the Last Supper and washed the feet of his disciples telling them to do the same; Good Friday, when Jesus died for our sins and we got to venerate the cross; Easter Vigil, when the light of Christ entered the dark church and we were told to bring his light to all our brothers and sisters; Easter Sunday, when Jesus rose from the dead and said we can do the same, if we love God above all else and our neighbor as our self. I think it is up to each of us to continue to celebrate these great events at home. Jesus is still with us. Let us pray for victims of the virus and all other evils. Let us make Holy Week a time to remember and to look forward to the Second Coming of Christ.
