St. Augustine’s offers Level I (ages 3-6) and Level II (ages 6-9) atrium sessions which take place during the school year. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a rich spiritual formation for children based on Scripture and Catholic Liturgy led by a trained catechist.
The atrium was originally created in Rome in 1954 by Sofia Cavalletti, a Hebrew Scripture scholar, and Gianna Gobbi, a Montessori educator trained under Maria Montessori. Since then, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has spread to many countries all over the world with similar responses of joy from all children who work with the beautifully prepared materials.
The St. Augustine’s atrium began in 2019 by a group of dedicated catechists. Many of the materials are hand made by our very own talented parishioners.
Please contact Sarah Kulwicki, CGS Coordinator, if you would like to learn about how to enroll a child, volunteer your time or talent, or if you would like a tour of the atrium space. You do not need to be a parishioner to enroll in the atrium.
