The St. Augustine Choir came into fruition due to the efforts, diligence, hard work, and perseverance of Mr. Robert H. Huddleston. Mr. Huddleston was encouraged, assisted, and greatly supported by his wife, Charlotte D. Huddleston. Mr. Huddleston led the choir as the Director for numerous years. After Mr. Huddleston retired as director, several persons have participated as choir director, namely Willa Lawrence, Mel Tardy, Dan Mandell, Sister betty, Terry Austin, and Nikki Durenburger. La Donna M. Huddleston-Flynn has been the Lead Choir Director for the past two years. Countless other talented musicians (too many to name) have also participated as choir director during those early years.
St. Augustine's pianist originally was Willa Lawrence. Over the years, several talented musicians have offered their services as pianist, including Nancy Morgan, and Myrna Hunt. At present, Betty Guy is currently St. Augustine's pianist and has been for numerous years.
St. Augustine's Choir has also performed, over the years, for several church events in the local community, as well as performed for various holiday events at the church. The choir has, in the past as well as currently, delivers a soulful sound as traditional gospel songs are sung, as well as current selections.
The St. Augustine choir is blessed as it is comprised of the most talented singers in our community. Their undying devotion to their musical ministry adds to the St. Augustine choir's longevity. The choir sings at the 10:30 AM Mass each Sunday.
