Today we celebrate the Holy Family just a few short days after Christmas. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I also want to thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, wishes, cards and gifts, I received from you. You will always be in my prayers.
I want to thank all of who made our Christmas Party a great success. Thanks goes out to the committee led by Annie Tardy and to Deacon Mel for playing his trumpet and leading our Christmas Carols. The 12 Days of Christmas are still ringing in my head. I’m still not sure what a partridge in a pear tree does. The Pot Luck Food was great. Thank you for that and thanks too to our little artists who painted the ornaments for the tree. Once again, the good times rolled.
Today is Gaudete Sunday. That is Latin for the first word in today’s Entrance Chant. It means Rejoice! Today we also wear rose vestments in contrast to the violet we have been wearing. Rejoice because Christmas is just over a week away. Come, Lord Jesus!
Today on the Second Sunday of Advent, we have the political situation at the time of Jesus and John the Baptist and it wasn’t good. Yet God calls John forward to preach the coming of the Lord. “prepare the way of the Lord.” “Every valley shall be filled in and every mountain and hill shall be made low.”
