Today we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord. Our first reading is the beginning of Acts and Luke tells us two important things. Jesus has ascended into heaven but will return: “This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”
Last Sunday after each Mass there was a party in honor of my 50th Anniversary as a priest. Being diabetic, the presence of two wonderful cakes was too much of a temptation. Both were very good and a small piece of each, didn’t get my sugar up! Thank you so much for your well wishes, gifts, support and friendship. I really appreciate all you do for the parish and for me.
It finally feels like Spring is here. As I write this on Thursday the weather says it will be good for St. Mary’s graduation on Saturday but may rain on Notre Dame’s on Sunday. Hopefully they will get through their graduations without too many graduates getting wet. Congratulations to all our graduates! May God bless each and everyone of you.
Today is Mother’s Day, so Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in our parish. I hope you like the carnation and the picture of Mary taken from one of our artworks here in the parish. Do something nice for your mother today, starting at least with a prayer.
Yes, it is already the Third Sunday of Easter. We are less than a month away from the Lord’s Ascension and then Pentecost. For the next few weeks we will see how Jesus appeared to his disciples during that time. Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. Do something nice for your mother.
