I am writing this on May 1st, when we celebrate St. Joseph, The Worker. It simply reminds us that both Saint Joseph and Jesus were carpenters and so identified with workers. It is also the first day of May, the month of Mary. Let's ask Mary and Joseph to pray for us and help us through these trying times.
Did you hear that Cheryl Ashe won an award from REAL Services. She was chosen for the "Sgt. Shriver Lifetime Achievement Award" for volunteer service. This was at a virtual luncheon. This award is given to a person who spends the majority of their life in service to low income populations.Congratulations to Cheryl!
We celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter on April 19th. This Sunday is also the Sunday of Divine Mercy. We pray in the Responsorial Psalm: "His mercy endures forever." And it does! Even with the virus and all the pain and suffering it causes, we can still say "This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it." We can and should rejoice in the Lord in good times as well as bad.
