Happy Pentecost Sunday! As our Responsorial Psalm says today: "Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth." This prayer is so needed today given all that is going on.
I arrived at St. Augustine at 7:30 AM on Sunday, after taking detours due to down trees. I found Birdsell blocked by a tree and the parking lot full of small branches, all due to the storm on Saturday PM. There was no power in the church either. I then put hand made signs in the doors saying: No Power! No Mass! We'll try again next Sunday. If you tried to come, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
On the 24th we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord and we also start public Masses again. We will have our usual Masses at 8:15 AM and 10:30 AM. There will be no Children's Church nor Classes of the Good Shepherd nor any "Coffee &". The church will be set up for social distancing. Please wear a mask and keep spacing.
Bishop Rhoades reminds us that all are dispensed from attending Mass until August 15. Since the virus is still among us, those over 65 and or those with underlying conditions should consider staying home. If you are sick, please stay home as well.
First and foremost, Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the parish. May God bless you for all the blessings you bestow on your children. Let's all do something nice for our mothers today, be they living or deceased. May God bless them all.
