Summer Mode … During the months of July and August we will publish one bulletin for the month giving our faithful editor, Gail Mandell, a well-deserved rest. I am truly grateful for all of the hard work that she does each week putting our bulletin together. The weekly email blast will continue. I will also take a break from writing a weekly column. I will resume the column in September.
The saints remind us of our call to holiness. The example of their lives teaches us about what we’re called to as the followers of Jesus. None of them were perfect. Each sinned and struggled. However, they worked at growing in holiness and turning away from their sins.
It's important to remember that we all have the responsibility of passing on the faith. We’re to inspire each other by the way that we live, challenge each other to grow in holiness, and make God known by how we love and serve Him
When I was a child, I would attend Mass at Sacred Heart Parish with my grandparents. They’d sit in a pew on the side aisle facing the statue of the Sacred Heart. I was always mesmerized by Jesus pointing to his exposed heart. For some reason I wasn’t uncomfortable with it but, instead, found it comforting as it reminded me of Jesus’ love for me.
The last two weeks have been filled with those things that I find to be the less enjoyable part of pastoring: business meetings, finances, and maintenance. Allow me to touch on each of those areas in this weekly reflection.
